Hair curler ranking - best hair curler 2024

A curling roller is a hair styling tool used to create waves, curls and volume. There are many types of curling roller, which vary in shape, material and method of operation. Thermal rollers, for example, use heat to shape the hair. They can be electrically powered or heated in hot water before use. This solution, although effective, when used over a long period of time damages the hair, so in our opinion a cold curl roller is a better choice. For curling, a silk hair roller is great for conditioning strands in addition to styling. Alternatively, a curling roller made of synthetic materials, such as a foam or spiral curl roller, can be a good choice. With the help of our testers, we have selected the best curling rollers and included them in the Top 5 curling rollers of 2024 below. Explore our list and create your dream curly look!

Silk Comfort Sleep by Cat&Cat is the second silk curl roller in our ranking. The curling roller doesn't require the use of high heat, so it won't damage strands 👌. Our testers liked the fact that the set comes with rubber bands-wraps that can be used to create everyday hairstyles 🙂 . Our testers pointed out that the roller is a little undersized - for some testers it proved to be too thick (only suitable for very long hair 🤔 ), a group of testers also complained that the ties are too short, making it difficult to attach the roller to thick curls. The Silk Hair Roller is filled with thermoplastic foam, which moulds to the shape of the head and allows you to sleep or relax comfortably while curling your hair. Our testers noted that the build quality of the roller is not as high as the first position in our ranking, so the Silk Comfort Sleep gets second place.

The Heatless Curling Set by Zoë Ayla is a curling roller designed to style hair without the use of heat. Our testers didn't like that the material of the curling roller is very stiff 🤨 and synthetic. Testers observed that the hair was often electrified after using the product. The cold curl roller does not have ties 👎 to help fix the design. You have to manage by using the rubber bands included in the kit. Our testers admitted that the product itself is made quite sturdy and aesthetically pleasing 👌 but, despite its high quality, it falls well short of the first place in our list. The Zoë Ayla curl roller takes the final spot on the podium.

The Bamboo curling roller is another offering from the Cat&Cat brand. The curling roller is made of natural material (bamboo fibres 🌱), which is suitable for both dry and wet styling. Due to the very large diameter of the roller, the product is designed for thick curls. For some of our testers, the roller turned out to be too thick 😞 which made it not want to stick to the head. The testers also drew attention to the ties, which are very difficult to tie. Fortunately, you can support yourself with the included wraps, but despite using them, it is common for the curl roller to slip off, especially when sleeping. Testers tended to prefer styling during the day 🌞. Some of our testers were not satisfied with the effect, which was unnoticeable on some hair types.

Benefits

Cat&Cat, Bamboo, Curling Hair Roller

  • for thick curls
  • natural material
  • suitable for wet styling
  • kit includes wraps

Disadvantages

Cat&Cat, Bamboo, Curling Hair Roller

  • uncomfortable straps
  • may slip
  • shaft diameter too large
  • effects are not visible for everyone

Almania, Dirty pink, Silk hair roller

Quality 7.1
Appearance 7.8
Effect 7.4
Average Rating: 3.7, 11 votes

Editorial Text:

Our list closes with the Almania silk hair roller dirty pink in powder pink. Although the curling roller is silk, its filling is plain cotton 🧐, which makes it not as comfortable as the previous silk rollers in our ranking. It's nice to touch and doesn't break hair, but because of the moisture-absorbing filling 💦, it's difficult to keep clean - prolonged contact with water can damage the silk. Almania is a cold and dry-only curl roller ❗ Styling does not require high temperatures. The Almania curl roller is very expensive and availability is severely limited - in our opinion, the price is not commensurate with the quality of the product.

Benefits

Almania, Dirty pink, Silk hair roller

  • does not damage hair
  • cold curl roller
  • silk cover

Disadvantages

Almania, Dirty pink, Silk hair roller

  • difficult to keep clean
  • inner material absorbs moisture
  • for dry styling only
  • limited availability
  • price inadequate for quality
  • not very comfortable
